In 1977 a remarkable growing increase in the number of patients suffering from permanent disabilities as a result of the Lebanese Civil War, lead to the establishment of a Prosthetics (Artificial Body Parts) Workshop with a support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The workshop is equipped with all the necessary tools that enable specialists to manufacture prosthetic limbs and paralysis-support devices tailored to each individual case. It is considered the only workshop of its kind in the North and provides prosthetic limbs and assistive devices for patients with paralysis. It is also worth noting that the Swiss Red Cross provided training for specialists on the use of this equipment.
